Application Guidelines
The application deadline for the 2015-2016 school year was January 15, 2015, though late applications may be submitted directly to our admissions office.  Late applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.

Acceptance notification letters were mailed March 13, 2015
The deadline to respond to acceptance offers is April 3, 2015
"Mandatory New Student Registration Meeting" is April 25, 2015

Application screening is based on the following criteria:

All Applicants
  • Only students entering the ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade may apply for the 2015-2016 school year.
  • Students may not have more than 10 absences, excused or unexcused, during the 2014-2015 school year.  Exceptions to this provision may be made on an individual basis.
  • Applications for all three academies will be screened to evaluate students’ academic and disciplinary history.
  • Failure to complete all requested information on an application will void the student’s application.
  • Standardized test scores and EOC scores may be reviewed to determine if a student has at least one elective period available to take required academy course(s).
Private School, Charter School, or Non-M-DCPS Applicants
  • Attach official, sealed academic transcripts from the current (2014-2015) and previous (2013-2014) school years.
Academic Requirements for the iPrep Academy
  • A minimum of 2.5 Grade Point Average in core academic subject areas (language arts, mathematics, science, social studies) and in conduct.
  • All effort grades in core academic classes must be a ‘2’ or higher.
  • Must currently be enrolled in Algebra I and Physical Science, passing with an academic grade of least a ‘C’ at the time of application. Additionally, final acceptance into the iPrep Academy requires that students pass the Algebra I End of Course (EOC) examination prior to the commencement of the 2015-2016 school year.
Academic Requirements for the COAST and Liberal Arts Academies
  • A minimum of 2.0 Grade Point Average in core academic subject areas (language arts, mathematics, science, social studies) and in conduct.
  • All effort grades in core academic classes must be a ‘2’ or higher.
